The NYC MTA subway platform inspires the design.
The design covers only one section of the play, starting with the king's arrival and ending with the brothers' separation.
The walls are made of curved walls with slats. When the wall rotates, the design achieves the passing lights we see while riding the subway tunnel. It also stimulates the mental spiral Macbeth is experiencing as he finds himself killing king Duncan.
There are three stages of the set: outside of the castle (walls concave), moving inside the castle (rotating walls), and inside of the castle (walls convex)
